After years of resistance, the Town Council has finally agreed to allow wildflowers to grow in a small part of the cemetery on a year's trial.

The previous wildflower project was halted after some relatives of those buried there became upset by the unkempt nature of the wildflower garden. However, Friends of the Cemetery group have now agreed to give the project another go. It is hoped that better information can be provided this time so that people can understand why the grass has been left to grow!

The cemetery is one of the only places of old meadowland in Chesham that has not been ploughed or sprayed, so there is every prospect of wildflowers growing there once given a chance.

A few keen supporters of the idea, including the Green Party's Phil Folly, have been instrumental in bringing about this change of heart. Phil will be helping with the maintenance of it as part of his supporting work for the cemetery
