Dave Hampton wins award

Dave Hampton, Green Party Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Beaconsfield wins ‘Sustainability Leader’ at Sustainability Leaders Awards Published: 21/11/2014

"The great and the good of the sustainability sector descended upon the Grand Connaught Rooms in London on 19 November ... My Green Directory is delighted that this year’s ‘Sustainability Leader’ is our dear friend Dave Hampton, the Carbon Coach. ...He’s behind the introduction of the highly successful Chartered Environmentalist of the Year Award which has been won by various high profile candidates. In his local community, he founded Transition Town Marlow, and has helped organise successful community events such as a parent and child bike ride on ‘350 day’ and a concert to raise funds for a solar school roof. Hampton also champions early stage causes and has won funding for initiatives like Ecocide, 10:10, Age of Stupid, and the Just Do It movie. He estimates he has helped raised almost £50,000 of funding for others over the past 10 years. In terms of engagement, Dave is frequently published in national and local newspapers, articles and letters columns, from the Telegraph and FT through to Metro and Sun, where he likes to gently challenge the status quo and. In addition, he is a radio show host on Marlow FM, where he produces a two-hour show every week called ‘The Watt Next Show’ on environmental issues. Hampton prides himself on studying carbon from every angle – political, economic, social, technical; also emotional, spiritual, humorous and practical – enabling him to reach out and engage with a wide variety of stakeholders."

The SuperHomes project harnesses the enthusiasm of energy saving pioneers to bring examples of successful sustainable refurbishment to the widest possible audience. The SuperHomes campaign has opened the doors to around 150 dwellings which have been made energy efficient. To qualify as a SuperHome, a 60% reduction in carbon emissions must be achieved. Several superhomes are available for viewing in the Chiltern area - search here. If you have installed loft insulation, cavity wall insulation, double glazing, solar panels and an efficient boiler you may be elligible for 'Superhome' status - see for details.
