I have written already on this matter but have a few further points as as a resident on Broad Street.

I'd also like to point out that your direct e-mail address for airing views on this matter seems to have only made the newspaper this last week (to my knowledge- I did miss one issue recently) so it's not very immediate if people have to go on the buckscc website to search for contacts.

1. There are times when the traffic moves fairly freely (I can hear it doing so now at 9.50am!), so traffic restrictions could slow it down needlessly. also late afternoon around 4.30 the road can be fairly empty, and sometimes people actually probably drive too fast.
2. There are of course severely congested times, but traffic lights etc will only hold things up, when perhaps the traffic could have moved on.
3. What if traffic measures are introduced but then the volume of traffic increases? Even if the measures had had an effect it would have been all for nothing if traffic increases. Surely the volume of traffic has to be addressed!?
4. Could there be 'stop-checks' introduced to check that vehicles are emitting 'permitted'' levels of exhaust fumes?
5. Please could the council really encourage people to walk, I know so many people who drive, when they could have taken a 5-minute walk. I have a friend who walks her kids 1 mile to school, then 2 miles in the other direction to work...this makes far more sense!!
6. I drive a full car of kids up to Ley hill School every day. However, it would be a good option to have a bus service that worked as an alternative, and i would use it. The bus from Ley hill down to Chesham leaves just before the school comes out in the afternoon ! What point is that? Could we have more buses please.
7. How is the new Healthzone to be powered, being a public building (and on the main road through Chesham).? From renewable energy one would hope to cut down the emissions in the area??
8. Closing local amenities (such as Chesham hospital , local post offices such as in Ley Hill) means people now have to get in their cars and make longer journeys, or rely on people to come and collect them to make those journeys. All of these thing make more traffic!!
9. To my mind, this is not just a matter of traffic restrictions, etc it is a much broader issue, a lifestyle issue, and the council should be making more effort to make things more sustainable.
10. 100 councils have signed up to the Sustainable Communities Act. Why haven't Bucks County council?? Link to Local works.

I have attached the briefing notes for councillors, which presumably your council should have seen. I've written to Cheryl Gillan on this matter in the past. I've no idea of her response
